OVERVIEW.
The sophomore curriculum is primarily rooted in British and European literature. In an effort to probe beyond the cultural and geographic boundaries of this particular sphere of human history, thought, and imagination, an outside reading project each semester that will afford students an opportunity to pursue texts, topics, and literary forms from non-Western cultures (see module links below). This assignment is an opportunity to grasp the relationship between the local concerns of a particular people or community and the universal questions and transcultural patterns of human experience that authors from around the world have engaged through works of fiction.
